Women: Get Rid of Yeast Infection
By Sam Smith of OceansideOrganic.com
Yeast infection can be embarrassing! Certainly, it is not something you would like to talk about openly while having coffee with your girl pals because it is not something you can be proud of having. You will probably be laughed at, and insulted, even, because you were not very careful, perhaps, with your hygienic practices. Yeast infection can happen to any woman, but it often occurs to those who are fond of wearing tight or fitting jeans or underwear. This does not give the vagina enough room to breathe, thus trapping moisture, and when there’s moisture, fungus is apt to develop and grow. It does not mean, however, that you cannot wear your favourite designer jeans anymore. You still can, of course; just alternate it with something that is made of polyester or cotton. People who go to the gym often are also likely to be at risk for this type of infection. If you are one of them, protect yourself by taking off all your clothes after you work out, and wash your vagina clean with running water; then dry the area well so that it comes on clean. Swimmers are also at risk because of the tight swimwear they are wearing, and the fact, too, that they are exposed to chlorinated water. So swimmers are likewise advised to remove their swimwear after swimming sessions, and then wash their vagina. People of child-bearing age are also prone to yeast infections. Those taking birth control pills and steroids are at higher risk. Some feminine products, such as scented pads, tampons, bubble baths, colored toilet paper, deodorant, and scented sprays, can also give you yeast infection, so you should take the necessary precautions when you use these things. When you feel some degree of discomfort, stop using these products, and resort to their safer, more natural alternatives. Eating loads of sugar can also give you a yeast infection. If you are, therefore, fond of eating ice cream, substitute it with low-fat yogurt --- it’s healthier, and you are less at risk of developing yeast infection. Finally, in the event that you will engage in a sexual activity, use water-based lubricants instead of petroleum based ones. However, the vagina should not be the only area that you should concentrate on. If your rectum is not clean, you are also prone to develop a yeast infection. After moving your bowels, wash your behind with water to prevent the infection from developing. These measures help to prevent the occurrence or recurrence of yeast infection. In the event that it develops again, consult your doctor immediately so he can recommend the proper medications to treat the infection. There are over the counter meds you can use to treat the infection, but there are also certain home-made remedies that are just as effective --- and naturally safe. A yeast infection can be transmitted to your partner, so avoid engaging in sex in the meantime until such time that you are completely healed of this non life-threatening but inconvenient disease.
