Benefits of Nintendo Wii Fit
A study published in the British Medical Journal claimed the Wii could have health benefits. Researchers at Liverpool John Moores University monitored children playing the Wii Sports games versus those playing traditional computer games and found Wii players burned an extra 60 calories an hour! Is Nintendo Wii a real option for exercise? For those that are at higher physical level, will it improve any factors? Is the video game system really going to make a difference for those that need physical activity? Below are some of the benefits available: 1) The simple motion will help the most sedentary individuals achieve some little increase in aerobic output. 2) From the stability training perspective, Wii does the most. For example, rehab patients it can help to get their hands off their cane, walker, etc, and make them use their arms while trying to maintain a non-supported base of support. 3) From the Balance perspective, the new Nintendo Wii, focuses on the idea of exercise as a lifestyle, with balance board peripheral being the main addition. The board will be useful in variety of ways, first, for those that are older and have weight shifting or balance issues the biofeedback that the force plate will register gives a good on-screen monitor of their progress. Next, the Wii fit game comes with sking, snowboarding and other fun balance/leg strengthening games. This sport exercise let you enjoy the game while still improving strength and balance.
